Mayor Denis Coderre has announced the city’s induction to Formula E’s 2016-2017 calendar. He said the “family-oriented and festive event” would be held on an urban track.
“This race marks Montreal’s willingness to promote transport electrification,” said Coderre in a press release on Monday.
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile created Formula E to show the technological capabilities of electric cars. The electric auto racing circuit is entering its third year. It’s already established in Buenos Aires, Paris and London.
“It’s fantastic to bring Formula E to new markets like Montreal,” said Formula E president-general manager Alejandro Agag.
Formula E is committed to promote sustainability to change behaviours, and stimulate innovation to discover social, environmental and economic solutions that will benefit all in the future.
